Bangladesh Village Development Organisation (BVDO)

Established by Ms. Cecilia Parul Mondal, a social worker who has worked as a teacher and trainer for several development organizations in Bangladesh for many years. At the end of the 90s she set up BVDO together with a number of others. BVDO was one of the first organizations in Bangladesh to have a female founder and director. The working area of BVDO is adjacent to the working area of Aloshikha, in the southern province of Barisal in Bangladesh. Like Aloshikha, BVDO works in the fields of education, healthcare and micro-credits. An important objective of BVDO is to work towards an understanding of equality between men and women. BVDO supports women and strives for an improved economic, legal and social position for women.
